The Brookwood 9th Grade team dominated pool play on Wednesday night and swept all 3 of their opponents. They won every match in 2 sets and move on to the Gold Bracket in the county championships on Saturday at North Gwinnett. Go Broncos!
Brookwood Varsity swept South Gwinnett in the best 3/5 region 4-AAAAAAA match Tuesday night.
The Broncos’ top performers were Abby DeLoach (six kills, nine digs, two aces), Lauryn Latimore (six kills) and Kate Phelan (eight assists).
Brookwood Varsity Volleyball opened region play Thursday night against Newton County High School and won in a best 3/5 match. They swept Newton County and posted 25-14, 25-13, 25-15 wins. The Broncos were led by Lily Ito (13 aces, six digs), Ella Gayle (seven aces, four kills), Abby DeLoach (five aces, four kills) and Lauryn Latimore (five kills, three aces).
After graduating 5 starters from our Varsity Region Championship/Elite 8 state finish team, we have many new, young players who are working very hard and getting better each day. We are excited to watch these athletes develop and grow into our Varsity Brookwood Volleyball team.
Congratulations to to our Varsity #7, Lauryn Latimore for making the AVCA’s Under Armour All-American Watch List for 2020!
And congratulations to our Varsity #16, Abby DeLoach for making AVCA’s Phenom List for 2020! Woohoo!! Proud of you both!
The 9th grade team had a great night at home of winning matches, sweeping Duluth and fighting hard to the end to win against St. Pius. It was a great night of volleyball as they rallied to win in a close 3rd set against St. Pius. The team is continuing to grow and improve. We can't wait to see what the rest of the seasons brings. Go Broncos!
Our 2020 9th grade volleyball season is off to a great start. We have played in 10 matches and won 5 of them. Of the 5 we have won, we swept our opponents! Of the 5 that we have lost, in 3 of those we forced our opponents to 3 sets. Here are our Win/Loss stats so far this year:
As you can see, we have more wins than losses. The team looks better and better each week and is growing in skills and friendship. We look forward to seeing how the rest of the season plays out. Go Broncos!
